Best 6 Person Family Tent

Coleman's Montana 6 Person Camping Tent is a tent that falls short to none. This spacious, durable, easy to use tent is an excellent choice for park and sit camping. It is too heavy for a hiking trip coming in around 15 pounds. Overall this big family tent has great features with an easy setup and take down. It is perfect for family or group camping with plenty of space. Durability is everything a camper could ask for.

Features

The Coleman Montana 6-Person Tent has the space to fit 3 queen air mattresses easily, with room around the edges. It has interior mesh pockets for easily misplaced personal items such as small flashlights, cell phones and keys. The rain cover doubles as a covered sitting area for rainy days. There are three windows that allow plenty of airflow for comfortable sleeping. Covers can be zipped up to retain heat at night. If camping with children, the stiff 'D' shaped door is arguably the most convenient feature. It closes behind the person just as a door on a hinge would. The door design helps keep out bugs and dirt without having to fight flaps and zippers or reminding little ones to zip up behind them. There is a pocket for an electrical cord to come through the side of the tent without sacrificing exposure to rain or bugs.

Set up

Set up is simple enough. Color coded pole sleeves match the poles. The only confusing part is finding the two poles the same length to make the main part of the tent. There is an extra long pole that makes the rain cover that is often mistaken as a main tent structure pole. To solve that just lay out all your poles before you get started to identify the longer one It is possible for one person to put this tent up alone though help makes the process easier. Two adults can have the tent up in about ten minutes. Take down is simple unless the rolling has to be redone 20 times before it will fit back in the bag. Storage is amazing. The entire tent fits in a storable, durable bag.

Space

As mentioned, space is sufficient. The rectangle base offers plenty of floor space for sleeping or storing supplies. A family of four can put a queen mattress, 2 twin mattresses, a large dog kennel, 3 suitcases, a large cooler and a medium box of food with room to walk in and out of the tent without falling over anything. The average person can stand easily in the middle and only a slight crouch on the sides.

Durability

After five camping trips, this tent is still in perfect condition. There is not a single tear, a mesh prick or stuck zipper. At least one rain storm per trip and there has never been a leak or flood. The design of the tent keeps the rain off and the wind out if needed. Camping with or without children, this tent offers comfort, safety, and space.
